Due to the unceremonious delay in the convocation this year, the Delhi University students would have to apply for their degree certificates from the university to get their certificates on time.
In the history of DU, this is the first time that the convocation has been delayed so much. The ceremony used to take place in the month of March earlier, but last year it got shifted to May. This year, there is no sign of the convocation ceremony as of yet and the students are worried about their degree certificates.
Toppers from different streams and colleges, along with PhD students of the university get awarded the degrees and medals in the convocation ceremony each year. The students, who would apply for their degree certificates now, would not be provided with the degrees during convocation.
The application procedure for the collection of degrees would begin soon. Earlier, in cases of delay, the students were given the ‘advanced degree’ and then the final degrees were distributed during the convocation.
The recent decision of providing degrees before the convocation came up after the complaints of some medical students who wanted to go to US and UK for their higher studies and job and needed their degrees for the same. Some of the aspiring Phd students were also in a loss, as they could not produce their degree certificates to the concerned offices.
The sources have confirmed that the delay in the convocation is due to the inability of the DU administration to finalize about the guests, who would be present during the programme.
