The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research brought in the CSIR UGC National Eligibility Test for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to the engineering graduates.
The council in this regard, has introduced the sixth paper in engineering sciences which will be also common to all areas of engineering disciplines. The good part is that BSc (Hons) graduates or equivalent degree holders will also be able to sit for the test.
So far, CSIR till now conducted NET in five different subjects: Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, and Physical Sciences. However now the CSIR will also have Engineering Sciences along with the other subjects.
It is to be noted that, the general and OBC candidates should have fifty five percent marks, while SC/ST candidates should have scored fifty percent marks in graduation to become eligible for the test. Also, a candidate holding BS,BE, BTech, BPharma, MBBS, integrated BS-MS/MSc or equivalent degree can take the test.
Note
1. The following changes will be applicable in the exam which is scheduled on 23 December 2012.
2. The exam will be conducted at 26 centres across the country.
3. The candidates would be given the question booklet fifteen minutes prior to the exam begins, so as to help them go through the questions.
4. The question booklet will be in Hindi and English except for engineering sciences where it will be only in English.
