Under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, the Wildlife Institute of India offers fellowships in many areas every year. Applications are invited here for Research Associates, Junior Research Fellows and Technical Assistants. Candidates are selected based on walk-in interviews at the wildlife institute in Dehradun.
Research Associate
Qualification - Zoology/ Botany / Wildlife Sciences / Environmental Sciences / PhD in experimental Biology.
(Course Duration -1 year).
Junior Research Fellowship
Fellowships are given on several project Works.
Qualification - Wildlife Science / Life Sciences / Zoology / Botany / Forestry / Veterinary Science / Masters Degree in Environmental Science. At least 60 percent marks.
Technical Assistant
Study on the Maintenance and care of protected animals in the Indians zoos. (Course duration - one year)
Qualification - Zoology / Masters' Degree in Life Science. 60 per cent marks mandatory. Candidate should also have knowledge of the computers.
Other Terms
Applicant's age should be less than 40 years for Research Associate. Age for Junior Research Fellowship and Technical Assistant should not exceed 28 years. SC / ST / OBC / women / disabled persons may be given relaxation of five years in the age limit.
Scholarships and Other Facilities
Research associates can get 16-18 thousand rupees per month based on their qualification and experience.
Junior Research Fellows may be given 12 thousand rupees and Technical Assistant may be given 6400 rupees per month.
Hostel facility is provided to all researchers. If hostels are not available, then equivalent amount of money is provided towards accommodation. Other facilities are also given from time to time.
Application and Interview
Candidates have to show attested copies of educational qualifications, research experience, extracurricular activities, birth certificates, and all mark sheets at the time of interview. Application forms may be obtained from the Institute's website.
