The Finnish Government invites application from has offered 10 Scholarships for postgraduate studies or research (after Master's level but no for post-Doctoral and research) and that priority will be given to doctoral studies and teaching at a higher educational Institutions in Finland in the academic year 2012-2013.

Eligibility Criteria
- Intend to pursue postgraduate studies as a visiting student, participate in a research project or teach at a higher education institution or public research in Finland; priority will be given to doctoral studies.
- Have established contact with the Finnish receiving institution before applying
- Have a letter of invitation from the academic supervisor in Finland; the invitation should also explain the commitment of the host institution to the project.
- Have earned at least a Master-level degree before applying.
- Not have spent more than one year already at a Finnish higher education institution immediately before the intended scholarship period in Finland
- Be able to give proof of sufficient skills in speaking and writing the language needed in study/ research.
Duration of Scholarship: The duration of scholarship is 3 months to 9 months. The academic year in Finland lasts from September to May. The autumn terms begins in September and end by 20 December. The spring term starts in January and ends in May.
Monthly Allowance: A monthly allowance of EUR 1200
Scholarship Scheme (National Fund)
- Scholarship of Rs 1000 per month for hostellers and Rs 700 per month for day scholars studying in professional courses at graduation and above level, and Rs 700 per month for hostellers and Rs 400 per month for day scholars pursuing Diploma/ Certificate level professional courses. Course fee reimbursed upto ceiling of Rs 10,000 per year.
- Financial assistance can be given for computer with editing software for blind/deaf graduate and post graduate students pursuing professional courses and for support access software for cerebral palsy students.
- Monthly income of the beneficiary/ parent or guardian should not be more than Rs 15,000 (Rs 1.80 Lakh per annum) from all sources.
How to Apply: Nomination of suitable candidates, in the prescribed proforma, along with the required documents with recommendation of the head of the concerned departments University/ Colleges and head of the university/ Institute may be forwarded to University Grants Commission office.
