Goa TET exam: As per the latest notification, the Goa TET exam will be conducted in the last week of February 2019. There are thousands of aspirants, who belong to Goa state, wait for this exam. This exam is a gateway to be a government teacher in the government schools because the state government has made it compulsory for all the aspirants, who want to teach for classes 1-8. However, the Goa TET exam is qualifying in nature and it does not guarantee any job offer/employment. Only with the Goa TET qualifying certificate, you can apply for the teaching posts of primary and upper primary classes for the next 5 years. Now, there will be a question that may arise in your mind about the Goa TET teacher job profile, salary, and promotions. Goa TET Teacher: Roles and Responsibilities

After appointment as a teacher, you will be teaching for classes 1-5 (Primary classes) or classes 6-8 (upper primary classes) or both levels. As a primary/upper primary teacher, you are required to perform the following duties at the school-

  • You have to play the role of a facilitator to guide the students in their overall development including mental and physical development.
  • You are supposed to teach the students in such a way that they can develop their interest in the respective subject/activity.
  • As a class teacher, you have to maintain the daily class attendance of students prior to teaching.
  • You will have to complete the whole syllabus on time laid by the state education government (as per the NCF-National Curriculum Framework guidelines).
  • As a teacher, it will be your responsibility to formulate the class assignments & daily homework for the students and evaluate their performance accordingly.
  • Besides the above stated activities, you have to coordinate with the other teaching staff so that other daily activities can be carried out successfully.

Along with these duties, if you wish then you can also undertake some other initiatives at your own for the betterment of the students in their future maneuvers. A teacher not just teaches but he also guide his students to be a good human being so that in future, they can contribute to the society as well.

Goa TET Teacher Salary

As a teacher in Goa state schools, you will probably not get paid high. However, after 7th Pay commission, it is expected that the salary of a government teacher in Goa state will have a substantial hike. The salary of primary and upper primary teacher differs area-wise. If you are posted in an urban area, you will be credited with extra thousands of rupees in comparison to the rural teacher. However, the basic salary at both levels remains the same. Rs. 13,500 (Rs. 9300 + 4200 = Rs. 13,500)

Dearness Allowance (calculated at 90%)

Rs. 1,350 (For Rural Area)

Gross Salary

Rs. 27,000 (Approximately)

In the above described salary figure, the 7th pay commission is not included. However, it is estimated that after 7thpay revision, a teacher’s salary will be 2.57 times of the existing salary. Apart from these salary figures, you will be entitled to several benefits including perks, medical reimbursements, leaves, etc. As trainee teacher, you will be drawing a monthly stipend of Rs. 7,300 (approximately).

Goa TET Teacher Promotions and Career Growth

As Goa TET teacher, you will get an immense opportunity of promotions. After the completion of training, you will be designated as Assistant Teacher for Classes 1-5 (primary classes) and Classes 6-8 (upper primary classes). As an Assistant Teacher, you will be performing the above-stated responsibilities. After that, your promotion will proceed in the following way-

Assistant Teacher-------> Senior Teacher ----> Head Master ----------> Principal

It will take approximately 7-8 years to get first promotion at senior teacher post for both levels (primary and upper primary classes). However, remaining designations will be awarded on the basis good service record, better experience, and higher qualification. There will be only few teacher, who will become the Head Master in a school.

A Principal is a governing person, who is responsible for the whole academic and non-academic activities in a school and he is chosen among the headmasters based on his experience and contribution in providing education at school level.
