Directorate of general of resettlement (DGR) has introduced the new courses including management programmes for defence personnel with an aim to let them opt for a second career after they are retired.
On 15 April, Maj Gen Amrik Singh, Director general (resettlement) told to senior army officials at Kolkata that some new programmes with having greater scope are added in 2014 academic session with high prospects of providing employability to the course-takers, the courses on offer also include a 24-week management programme developed for retired officers.
Singh told that the programmes have been designed keeping the training useful for and demanded by the growing corporate sector.
DGR is tri-service organisations that manage as well as facilitate the retiring servicemen to take on a second career. Around 60,000 service personnel retire each year at a comparatively young age.
