The Gujarat is on the path of enhancement of education sector. Lately, more than 100 applications requesting the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to launch English-medium schools in Gujarat have been received by the board. Whereas, mere 20 school managements have gone to the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) asking for establishing secondary schools teaching in English medium and around 50 for higher secondary English-medium schools.
The demand for CBSE schools in Gujarat is rising mainly because of wakefulness amongst parents about the quality education that CBSE provides besides, well-crafted textbooks the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT).
Surprisingly, five years earlier the state had merely 50 central board schools. As a good sign, at present more than 200-odd CBSE schools are running in Gujarat.
In earlier times only those parents who had transferrable jobs or those who migrate and settle in Gujarat only used to admit their wards in CBSE schools. However, now the parents have become more aware that even locally settled parents put their wards to CBSE schools.
