IAS exam is held in India to select officers for its various Central and All-India Civil Services. The exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). There are two stages: Preliminary and Main. The Main stage is again classified into two stages: Written exams and the Interview. In the Preliminary exam, there are two papers: Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) and General Studies. The Main written exams have nine papers: English, Hindi, Essay, Two General Studies papers, Two Optional Subject I papers, and two Optional Subject II papers.
