The recruitment of Probationary Officers are done every year holding hands of Indian Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), where lakhs of candidates apply to get posted at various nationalized banks as probationary officers. The written examination conducted by IBPS consists of five papers that contains total of 200 marks. For every paper there is a set cut off marks that the candidates need to score in order to get through with their written examination and proceed to the next rounds which are personal interview and group discussions. The candidates thus need to pass individually in every paper of the written examination to get through to the next rounds.

There are five papers in total which consists of papers like, English Language, Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness and Quantitative Aptitude. The overall skills get tested of the candidates through the examination. The distribution of marks for the written examination is as given below:

The Quantitative Aptitude section consists of 50 marks. The total number of questions asked in this section is 40. Description of the Questions asked in the Paper

• There are questions related to number system which is the very basic of numerical ability paper. The paper contains questions based on numbers, approximations, decimal fractions, simplifications, HCF & LCMs and many other basic equations.

• There are almost four to six questions in the paper which deals with the questions dealing with percentage, ratio and proportions, average & ages, partnerships and many more.

• There are on an average 2 to 4 questions that deal with profit and loss equations, calculations of simple and compound interests and questions related to other calculations dealing with percentages.

• There are questions related to permutation and combination, probability, time and duration, mensuration, which can take quite a lot of your time for solving.

• The most number of questions are asked (12-16) from the data interpretation section in this paper which consists of questions dealing with pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, mixed graphs etc. This section takes your time to get solved as well, but if it is taken care of skillfully this can result in concrete scoring without any provision of mistakes.
