IIM Ahmedabad reduced the weighted of CAT scores and taken into account academic profile & diversity among other parameters to shortlist the candidates, apart from this IIM A has reduced the minimum cut off percentile ranks from 90 overall to 80 overall and from 80 sectional to 70 sectional percentile.

This year a total number of 24128 candidates have been shortlisted by IIM Ahmedabad for final admission round. Out of these 24128 shortlisted candidates 20190 are from General Category, 2592 from OBC category, 952 from SC category, 292 from ST category and 102 from DA category. There are 1182 overseas candidates, those have been shortlisted on the basis of their GMAT scores.

This year due to change in the short listing criteria, many 99 + percentilers did not find their place in the list of IIM Ahmadabad although they have decent overall as well as sectional percentile scores. This is because of the reduced weightage to CAT 2015 scores.

Most probably due to the sectional dip in CAT 2015 scores of high percentilers has forced IIM Ahmedabad to reduce the minimum cut off criteria. Many candidates out of high percentilers, have sectional dips in scores, as a result these candidates have gone below minimum qualifying score in one section which kept these candidates away from getting shortlisted by IIM Ahmedabad.

In CAT 2015, some candidates found low score in DILR while some in VARC and candidates from Arts, humanities background got low score in Quant section. If these candidates got good score in specified section then their overall score would have been at higher point and they also would have been qualified for sectional limit.

Here we are giving the names of some candidate those having good overall percentile but having low score in one section; Ankit having overall 99.01 percentile scored 98.46 and 99.99 in 2 sections but in one section he scored 63.9 only another candidate is Shivam, who hasoverall 98.2 with 99.93 and 96 percentile in 2 sections but has only 79.6 percentile in the 3rd section. After having decent overall score Ankit and shivam did not called for next round of admission process by the IIM Ahmedabad, this all due to pattern change.

Now the candidates, who have been called by IIM Ahamdabad, will face the final admission round that is comprised of Academic Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI). AWT and PI will be conducted on the same day.
