Google News Lab University Network adds IIMC, 46 global schools in group

One of the leading media institutes of the country, IIMC has found a place in the recently declared Google News Lab University Network. From among 46 participating communication schools all over the world, IIMC is one among three from the country.

Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has joined Google News Lab Network for accomplishing the objective of the group that is, “In this era of digital media, Google’s News Lab would equip IIMC students with the knowledge of important online tools such as Google Search, Google Trends, Google Maps and Google Earth,” a press statement issued by IIMC said.

As per the press statement released by Nicholas Whitaker, “The Network is designed to provide in-person training and online training materials and support to professors and students on topics ranging from Google tool fundamentals, trust and verification, immersive storytelling, data journalism, advanced search and Google Trends, data visualisation, mapping and more.”

Google News Lab Network comprises of 46 communication schools in total out of which 27 are from the US, 12 from Europe and 03 each from Hong Kong, Mexico and India.
