After the war of the words and the whole IIT scuffle, the row seems to be resolved as the government and the premier institutions reached at a situation of compromise on 27 June 2012.
The apparently suggested change is that, the advance test will be held after the main exam, and the time gap between the both would be adequate. Only the top 1.50 lakh students qualifying the main will be qualified to appear in the advance examination.
On 28 May 2012, the government announced the new test starting 2013, under which students for IITs and other central institutes such as NITs and IIITs will have to take tests under a new format of common entrance test, the test also take the class 12 board results into consideration.
With the recent development, not only will the students be less burdened with the umpteen number of exams, but will also give a fair chance to those students who are genuine and deserve to study in one of the most esteemed institute, IIT.
