Indian Air Force (IAF) is the air arm of the Indian armed forces. Officialy established on 8 October 1932 as an auxiliary air force of the British Raj and the prefix Royal was added in 1945 in recognition of its services during World War II. Its primary responsibility is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during a conflict. It invites applications from unmarried males for the selection test for recruitment to the post mentioned below in Group X

Important Dates for Recruitment in IAF 2012

  • Last Date for Receipt of Applications: 23 May 2012
  • Tentative Date for Written Examination: During August 2012
  • Date for the Selection List to be displayed: 31 October 2012

Eligibility Criteria for Recruitment in IAF 2012

  • Educational Qualification: Candidate should have passed Intermediate or 10+2 or Equivalent Examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate OR Candidate should have passed a Three year Diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical or Electronics or Automobile or Computer Science or Instrumentation Technology or Information Technology) with at least 50% marks in overall aggregate from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute
  • Age Limit: Minimum 17 years; Maximum 22 years
  • Physical Standards

a)      Height: Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms

b)      Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm

c)      Weight: Proportionate to height and age

Consolidated Salary: Rs 8550 per month (stipend for the month of training only). On completion of training, starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Dearness Allowance (DA), for Group ‘X' (Technical) trades will be Rs 20542 per month (approximately), which, in subsequent years, may rise up to Rs 36250 per month (approximately) depending upon the rank attained

Selection Procedure for Recruitment in IAF 2012

The candidates will be selected on the basis of Written Test followed by a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) to be conducted by IAF. Those who pass both the Written and PFT will be called for Interview
