ISB - Biocon launches a New Certificate Course in Business Analytics

The Indian School of Business (ISB), one of the premier B-Schools in India based at Hydrerabad, has recently launched a one-year Certificate Program in Business Analytics (CBA). This certificate course is the first hybrid model executive education program in India that ISB has launched in collaboration with Biocon Foundation as funding partner. The course fee is Rs 5 lakh.
The 'ISB Biocon Certificate Program in Business Analytics' is focused on to creating "the next generation of data management scientists", said ISB spokesperson. With its full funding support, the Biocon Foundation is working hand in glove with ISB to promote this one-year program.
Around 104 people, having varied work experiences, have been enrolled in the first batch of this exclusive program. The classes for which have already started on 14 September 2013 at ISB Hyderabad campus. The ISB has another campus in Mohali.
The promoter of Biocon Foundation, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, stated that this course will help develop high quality business analytics that will be come up as a great value addition to the industry. Further she said that this course will also deal with some of the growing needs of the business world.
According to ISB, the one-year part-time program would have 430 contact hours and the course would be taught through classroom as well as technology-assisted learning methods.  Apart from classroom learning, the program schedule includes special session with guest industry speakers, workshops and group projects. And, the rest of the program will be delivered online.  
As part of the program, the students would be required to stay on campus for a five-day schedule of classroom learning in every alternate month for the one year duration of the CBA.
There is a lack of available talent helping organizations to generate business data and to meet this demand, the certificate program in business analytics has been introduced, said the Deputy Dean of ISB.
