    The JBIMS MBA Placement 2018 was organized to facilitate campus placement opportunities for the outgoing batch of MMS 2016-18. A total of 130 students participated in the campus placements this year, which were placed in record time this year. Below, we have listed the key placement trends that emerged during the MBA Placements 2018 at JBIMS Mumbai.

    Average Salary rises

    Contrary to the downward spiral that corporate hiring is witnessing post the demonetization and GST shocks, the JBIMS Mumbai MBA Placement witnessed rise in the average salary offered to the students. The 130 students who participated in the Campus Placement 2018 received an average salary of Rs 18.91 lakhs as compared to Rs. 18.76 lakhs last year.     On a similar note, the top 10% of the students received an average salary package of Rs 25.38 lakhs, the top 30% of the students received average package of Rs 21.68 lakhs. The median salary for JBIMS MBA Placement 2018 was reported at Rs. 17 lakhs, which is the same as last year.

    Highest Package Offered below last year

    On the contrary to average salary, the highest salary package saw a steep decline this year. The highest salary offered during the JBIMS MBA Placement 2018 was Rs.30 lakhs which fell from 2016’s highest package of Rs 34.30 Lakhs. However, the fluctuations of this level in the highest package offered for MBA placements at JBIMS is a common phenomenon as can be seen in the table below:

    Half the batch receives PPOs

    Another interesting development that was witnessed during the placement session this year was that more than half the batch of MMS consisting of 130 students received PPOs this year. This year, the B-school witnessed a substantial rise in the number of PPOs being extended to the students. Of the 130 students which participated in the JBIMS Placement 2018, 63 received pre-placement offers from the recruiters.

    Top names from the corporate world such as Tata Steel, Medtronic, P&G, IDFC Bank, Citibank, HUL, McKinsey & Company, Abbott, RIL, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Vodafone, Capgemini, Goldman Sachs, RBL, Aditya Birla Group, Standard Chartered, Tata motors, Arvind Brands, JSW, DBS Bank, Piramal, AkzoNobel, J P Morgan Chase offered PPIs / PPOs to the students this year.

    20 new Recruiters

    This year, of the total 69 companies which visited the JBIMS Mumbai for placement process, also included 20 new recruiters. The first time recruiters at JBIMS MBA Placement 2018 include Pucho, India Ratings, Livinguard, Anand Rathi, ValueLabs, Crompton Greaves, DSP Blackrock, IOCL, BOB Capital markets, Piramal Enterprises, UltraTech Cement, Quality Kiosk, Bristlecone, GSK, Jubilant Food Works, Hikal, Sunteck, The Quarry, and Deloitte.

    Sector-wise Placement Trends

    Coming to the most interesting part of JBIMS MBA Placements 2018, the sector-wise placement trends also saw some significant changes this year. JBIMS Mumbai is known as the finance campus of the country and therefore BFSI emerged as the top sector with 38% of offers being extended in this domain.

    The second spot went to FMCG and Pharma companies which extended 20% of the total offers made. Manufacturing accounted for 16% of total offers followed by Consulting which made 14% of the offers each. Technology and other minor sectors accounted for 12% of the total offers being extended to the JBIMS MMS students this year. Telecom & Auto sector made 12% of the offers; Conglomerates made 11% and 8% offers came from e-Commerce, IT and other sectors.
