Punjab Public Service Commission, Patiala issued a clarification notice on the number of District Sports Officers posts in the Department of Sports & Youth Services advertised by the Commission.
The notice states that the 11 posts of District Sports Officers in the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Punjab, advertised by the Commission ‘are as per the requisition received from the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Punjab vide letter No. 8/53/2010-3SS/PF/50169/1 dated 9 May 2013.’
The clarification came in response to a Civil Writ Petition No. 24998 of 2013 – Satpal Singh V/s State of Punjab in which the petitioners have challenged the number of posts advertised by the Commission vide advertisement No. 04 dated 07 October 2013.
The Petition was filed in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana after a Competitive Exam regarding ibid posts was conducted on 8 February 2014 by the Commission. As an immediate response to the petition, the Govt. vide a Memo No. 2/1/2014-3SS (1SS) 103 dated 11 April 2014 has requested the Commission to halt the on-going selection process till further order. The candidates would be updated with any further communication from the Government.
