Punjab National Bank Single Window Operator Recruitment 2011: Punjab National Bank (PNB) has invited the application for recruitment to the posts of Single Window Operator (SWO). Punjab National Bank commenced its operations in 1895 from Lahore, with an authorised total capital of Rs 2 lakh and working capital of Rs 20,000. It gained the distinction of being the first Swadeshi bank to have been started with Indian capital and has achieved significant growth since then. It has 56 million satisfied customers and more than 5000 offices including 5 overseas branches. The bank has its Corporate Office in New Delhi and supervises 65 Circle Offices under which the branches function.

PNB has invited applications from eligible candidates for the post of Single Window Operator Clerk.Mentioned below are the details for the same.

Name of the post: Single Window Operator Clerk

Total Number of Vacancies: 6428 seats

Age Limit: 20 years of age (min) and 25 years of age (max) as on 1 January 2011
Eligibility criteria: For recruitment as probationary officer in Punjab National bank, a candidate should satisfy the following conditions:

(i) a citizen of India,

(ii) a subject of Nepal,

(iii) subject of Bhutan,

(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,

(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/ interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificates have been issued to him by the Government of India.

Educational qualification

Graduate in any discipline with 50% marks or equivalent qualification.

Relaxation in Educational Qualifications for SC/ ST/ EXSM/ PC Candidates:

Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University

Computer qualification (if required): Essential computer qualification like working knowledge of MS Office

Important Dates

a) Opening date for online registration – 11 April 2011

b) Closing date for online registration – 3 May 2011

c)  Tentative date of written test – 19 June 2011

d) Downloading of call letters for written Test – 4 June 2011

Pay scale: 7200-400(3), 8400–500(3), 9900–600(4), 12300–700(7), 17200–1300(1), 18500–800(1), 19300 (20 Years).

Plus Two Increments towards Graduation Pay & Other Allowances Like DA, HRA etc as per Bank Rules

Application Fee: The detail of fees to be paid by SC/ ST/ PC/ Ex-servicemen is Rs 50 and for General/OBC candidate is Rs 300.

How to apply

A) Procedure for Depositing Fee:

i) Before depositing the fee/ charges, the candidate must download a copy of the cash voucher from the website www.pnbindia.in - Link (Recruitment). The voucher will be in duplicate.

ii) The voucher be filled up and thereafter be presented at any Branch of PNB, along with the application fee.

iii) The following details must be entered into both copies of the voucher:

(i) Candidate’s Name

(ii) Candidate’s Category

(iii) Name & Code Number of the branch selected for payment

(iv) Date of Payment and

(v) Fee to be paid.

iv) After payment, the candidate must ensure that the transaction ID generated is entered into the voucher.

v) The candidate’s copy of the voucher will then be handed over to him/her.

vi) Payment of fee should be made from 11 April 2011 to 03 May 2011 in any branch of PNB.

vii) No Fee will be accepted by any other mode. The date will be the same for candidates belonging to far-flung areas. Fees once deposited shall not be refunded.

B) Procedure to Apply:

i) Candidates should log onto our website www.pnbindia.in link (Recruitment).

ii)    The candidates must apply online only. Application registration on our website will remain open from 11 April 2011 to 03 May 2011.

iii) The transaction ID provided by the Branch after payment must be quoted in the application and the Original Cash voucher must be produced along with the call letter at the time of the written test.

iv) The candidate should have a valid Email ID. This will enable him/her to receive call letter/ interview advice etc by email.

v) Candidates should keep a printout of the completed application for reference in future.

vi)  There is a provision to modify the submitted online application. Candidates are requested to make use of this facility to correct the details in the online application if any.

vii) This modification facility shall be available after 2 days of registration and upto 05 May 2011. Modification will be allowed only 3 times. After 05 May 2011, no modification will be permitted.

viii) The original Cash Voucher and Call Letter is to be surrendered at the Examination Hall.

ix) The Information Handout will be available on the Bank’s website. Candidates may download the call letter/ Information Handout from bank’s website

Selection procedure: 

The selection will be through Written Test and/ or Interview.  Merely satisfying the eligibility norms would not entitle a candidate to be called for Test or Interview. The Bank may call only the requisite number of candidates after preliminary screening/ short-listing with reference to the candidates’ qualifications, suitability, etc.

i) The Written Test will be held on Sunday, 19 June 2011 at the centres mentioned below.

ii) The Written Test will be Objective and Descriptive type.  The questions in objective test Paper will be printed in bilingual, i.e. English and Hindi except for the Test of English. The written test will include Objective Tests of Reasoning, English, Quantitative Aptitude, Marketing & Computer; and Descriptive Test in English Composition.

iii) Bank, however, reserves the right to cancel any of the Pre examination training/ written test Centers and/ or add some other Centres, depending upon the response of the candidates, administrative feasibility, etc.

iv) The Candidates will have to appear for the written examination at the allotted Centre for the State for which he/ she has applied at their own expenses and risks and the Bank will not be responsible for any injury or losses etc of any nature.

v)  No request for change of centre will be entertained.

vi) The date of the test is tentative. The exact date will be communicated to the candidates through the call letters for the examination. The Bank reserves the right to cancel or make any change in the date/ centre of Pre examination training/test, if necessary.

Exam Centres: Hyderabad, Guwahati, Patna, Gaya, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Shimla, Chandigarh, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Bhubaneswar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Chennai, Lucknow, Meerut, Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi, Dehradun, Kolkata.

Exemption for SC/ ST candidates: 5 years

Paper Writer:

The visually impaired candidates and candidates whose writing speed is affected by cerebral palsy can use their own scribe at their cost during the written examination. In all such cases where a scribe is used, the following rules will apply:

i) The candidate will have to arrange his/her own scribe at his/her own cost.

ii) The academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the stipulated eligibility criteria.

iii) The scribe can be from any academic discipline. The scribe should possess lesser marks than the candidate and not more than 60% marks in his own academic stream.

iv) Both the candidate as well as the scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking, confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe as mentioned above. Further, in case it later transpires that he/ she did not fulfil any of the laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts, the candidature of the applicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written examination.

v) Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination
