SSC Junior Engineering Exam 2014: Eligibility Criteria

Staff Selection Commission has invited application for Junior Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Contract) Examination, 2014.

Staff Selection Commission has invited application for Junior Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Contract) Examination, 2014. The candidates eligible for the exam can send their application in the prescribed format before 28 March 2014. Candidates are advised to go through the detailed notification  for the exam, and opt only for such posts for which they are within the prescribed age limits.

Here’s the detailed Eligibility Criteria for the exam:

Educational Qualification

  • Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical), CPWD: Diploma in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an institution recognized by the Central Government or equivalent qualification.
  • Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical), Department of Posts: Diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an institution recognized by the Central Government or State Government
  • Junior Engineer(Civil)/ Junior Engineer(Electrical and Mechanical) , Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Ministry of Defence: Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Diploma in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent from a recognised University or Institute
  • Junior Engineer (Civil)/ Junior Engineer(Electrical and Mechanical)/ Junior Engineer (QS&C),  MES: Degree in (Civil Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) from a recognised University OR Diploma (Civil Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) from a recognised Institute or University or Board and 02 yrs experience in Planning, Execution and Maintenance of Civil/ Electrical or Mechanical Engineering works
  • Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical), CWC and Farakka Barrage: Degree or Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University or Institution

Age Limit

  • For Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) in CPWD and Department of Posts: Between 18-27 years
  • For Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in MES: Not exceeding 30 years
  • For Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in MES: Not exceeding 32 years
  • For Junior Engineers (Quantity Surveying and Contract) in MES: Between 18-27 Years
  • For Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical &Mechanical) in Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of Ministry of Defence: Not exceeding 30 years

Upper age limit relaxation is permissible as per the government rule, which is described below:

08 years ( 3 years + 5 years ) after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date.

Central Govt. Civilian Employees (General/Unreserved) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on Closing date.

Central Govt. Civilian Employees (OBC) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on Closing date.
