Nearly a dozen Japanese students from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) are set to host by Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn). A team of students from JAIST will be send at IIT Gandhi Nagar to study and understand the institute’s interdisciplinary and project oriented curriculum. A delegation of four members from JAIST had visited IIT Gandhinagar to explore various ways of collaboration.
A MoU was signed between IIT-Gn and JAIST in November, 2013. The MoU signed focuses mainly on exploring opportunities and possibilities for the exchange of students and faculty, cultural exchange, develop educational and scientific exchange and cooperation and such joint initiatives. As a part of the exchange programme, a team of students from IIT-Gn will also visit JAIST in March.
The collaboration with JAIST is a great opportunity for sharing experience and good practices from each other. It will also help the institute in becoming a world-class institute. Such type of MoUs and student exchange programme will help the institute to record its presence globally and it will also help its students in understanding the importance of Globalization in this deeply interconnected world.
IIT-Gn was founded in 2008 and is located in Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. IIT-Gn offers B. Tech. and M. Tech. programmes in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Materials Science and Engineering. It also offers 2-year MSc programmes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Cognitive Science, and a 2-year MA programme in Society and Culture. Ph.D. programmes are offered in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Earth Science, Cognitive Science, History, Literature, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Epidemiology.
