2. 56th Tiger Reserve of the country notified in Chhattisgarh

The Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve, situated in the Chhattisgarh has been notified as the 56th Tiger Reserve of the country.

Highlights

  • Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve is spread over 2,829 sq km.
  • The tiger reserve, encompassing a total area of 2829.38 sq.kms, includes a core/critical tiger habitat of 2049.2 sq.kms.
  • It also comprises the Guru Ghasidas National Park and Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary, and has a buffer of 780.15 sq.km.
  • It is the third largest tiger reserve in the country after Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve in Andhra Pradesh and Manas Tiger Reserve in Assam.
  • According to the Zoological Survey of India, a total of 753 species, including 365 invertebrates and 388 vertebrates, have been documented in the Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve.

3. Sagarmanthan: The Great Oceans Dialogue Concluded

Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Sagarmanthan conducted the first edition of ‘Sagarmanthan: The Great Oceans Dialogue’ in New Delhi.
Highlights:

  • India is the third-largest in the world in terms of ship recycling by tonnage.
  • India boasts a fleet of 1,530 ships sailing under its flag as of 2023.
  • The government has approved the establishment of a major port at Vadhavan, Maharashtra with an estimated cost of ₹76,220 crore.

4. ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus)

ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) will be held in Vientiane, Lao PDR from November 20-22, 2024. Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh will lead India in the conference.

Highlights

  • ASEAN member states are- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
  • Eight Dialogue Partners are-India, US, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
    India became the dialogue partner of ASEAN in 1992.
  • The inaugural ADMM-Plus was convened in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 12, 2010.

5. 25th Anniversary: Dragon Palace Temple in Nagpur

The Dragon Palace Temple, at Kamptee, Nagpur marked its 25th anniversary in a grand event recently.
The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) co- partnered with the Dragon Palace Temple in organised the event.
