Q: Please brief about the number of papers, pattern, marking scheme, and duration of the forthcoming National Eligibility Test conducted by University Grant Commission.

A: UGC NET June 2013 examination will be held in objective mode with MCQs. The test will consist of three papers to be conducted in two sessions. The number of questions, allotted marks and time are mentioned below:

Pattern of Examination

Paper-I shall be of general nature, to scrutinize the teaching/research aptitude of the aspiring candidates. It will primarily be designed to test the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.  This paper will comprise Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each out of which the examinee will have to answer any fifty (50) questions. In any case, a candidate marked above 50 questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type (MCQs) compulsory questions of two marks each based on the subject opted by the candidate.

Paper-III shall comprise 75 Multiple Choice compulsory questions carrying 2 marks each and will be subject-specific as chosen by the candidates while applying.  Examinee will be required to mark responses of all questions of Paper-II and Paper-III as they are compulsory, covering the entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).
