Sadanand: I am feeling good.
JJ: Please tell me about your educational background, schooling and higher education.
Sadanand: I did my matriculation from High School- Rajkiya Inter College, Basti and then Intermediate from Kisan InterCollege, Basti and completed my Graduation from Kulbhaskar Ashram degree college, Allahabad. Afterwards I did Post Graduation from-Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur.
JJ: When did you chose to become a civil servant and why?
Sadanand: After completing my graduation. Because it gives you opportunities.
JJ: Who is your role model? Please tell me about your hobbies and interests.
Sadanand: I like to spend time with friends. My role model is Swami Vivekananda.
JJ: How many attempts did you take to get success?
Sadanand: I appeared in the interview for the first time.
JJ: How much time one should give for the preparation of State civil services exam?
Sadanand: Approximately 3-4 years.

Sadanand: I studied the syllabus thoroughly.

Sadanand: Divide the GS syllabus into various components and prepare each component separately.

JJ: when did you start preparing for UPPCS main exam? What were your optional subjects for the Main exam? Which medium you used for the Main exam?
Sadanand: History and Public Administration.

Sadanand: NCERT, KC Sriwastava, Harishchandra Verma, Satish Chandra, BL Grover, Vipin Chandra, Jain Mathur.
JJ: For Public Administration which books did you choose?
Sadanand: Awasthi-Awasthi, Surendra Katariya, Prasad and Prasad.
JJ: What strategy you adopted for optionals? What criteria you had for choosing optional?
Sadanand: I did selective intensive study.
JJ: What strategy one should adopt for GS in main exam?
Sadanand: One should do Regular Study.
JJ: For essay question what was your strategy? What tips you would like to give for essay writing?
Sadanand: I read newspapers’ editorials regularly. I also read Yojana, Kurukhetra, and India Today. Before writing essay I try to figure out the subject of the essay, problem, solution etc.
JJ: How important is time management for essay writing?
Sadanand: It is very important.
JJ: What is your advice for those students who couldn’t clear UPPCS exam 2009?
Sadanand: Students should study in the right direction.
JJ: How important is answer writing in UPPCS main exam?
Sadanand: It is very essential.

Sadanand: One should hold discussion with friends. Mock interviews also can be very helpful.
JJ: Please give details about your interview. What was its time duration? Its timing, the number of members in interview panel, and tell about the type of questions asked in the interview.
Sadanand: Mr. Bharat Singh’s board conducted my interview. Its number was five and time-duration of interview was 25 minutes.
JJ: Were you fully confident in interview hall?
Sadanand: No, I was little bit nervous.
JJ: Do you think examination is information oriented now?
Sadanand: No
JJ: Which important thing you should keep in mind while facing the interview?
Sadanand: Positive outlook and self-confidence.
JJ: Do you think a good understanding of current Affairs play an important role?
Sadanand: Yes.

Sadanand: One should Study according to syllabus, continuity, and positive thinking.
