Q. Why does the life span of a fluorescent light decrease if you switch it on and off frequently?
Ans. It is better not to switch off a fluorescent light, if you are going to switch on it again within a span of 1 hour. Because each time you do so, a high voltage is needed to charge up a CFL’s ballast. Thus interrupting this process again and again may cause wear and tear of the components of bulb, hence shortening the life span.
