AIBA Executive Committee approved Boxing India as a provisional new AIBA member to represent India.

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) Executive Committee on 15 May 2014 approved the application of Boxing India (The Bout outside the Ring) as the new provisional member of AIBA to represent India.

The approval came after the AIBA Executive Committee was convinced that the new vision and the initiatives proposed by Boxing India would help revive the sport of boxing in the India in a professional and ethical manner.

Boxing India would be a provisional member of AIBA until the ratification by AIBA congress. The ratification will be done on the basis of recommendations given by the AIBA Evaluation Committee.

The newly selected Boxing India now should submit its plan to hold General Assembly to conduct elections for its executives, which needs to be approved by AIBA. The AIBA Member Federation in India will be officially launched after the elections and will start governing the sport of boxing in India with the full recognition of AIBA.

Earlier on 3 March 2014, the AIBA Executive Committee had decided to end the official relationship of AIBA with the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation and provisionally exclude the national federation from AIBA membership. This action was taken due to serious violations of the AIBA Statutes and Bylaws.

Following this, AIBA launched an Evaluation Committee to assess the applications of potential groups/individuals to establish a new AIBA National Federation in India which would support the principles of AIBA in terms of ethics and fairness.
