Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) on 22 November 2010 announced that it had entered into an agreement with GE India Industrial Pvt. Ltd. for manufacturing water treatment equipment. The agreement was signed by BHEL Chairman and Managing Director B. P. Rao and GE-India President and CEO John Flannery. BHEL and GE India Industrial Private Limited (GEIIPL) will jointly engineer and supply water treatment solutions for the Indian market. GEIIPL is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of US based GE. According to the terms and condition of the agreement the joint venture will help BHEL to develop large water treatment systems based on GE products on its own.
