A suicide bomb attack in Potiskum, Yobe state of Nigeria on 10 November 2014 killed many people and injured students. The explosion took place when students had gathered for the weekly assembly at the Government Technical Science (GTS) College in Potiskum.
Potiskum has been repeatedly targeted by Boko Haram. Boko Haram is a millitant group which wants to create a hardline Islamic state in Nigeria. Earlier in November 2014 at least 15 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack targeting a Shia religious ceremony in Potiskum.
Potiskum is the commercial hub of Yobe state and is one of three north-eastern states that have been under a state of emergency since May 2013 to try to quell the bloody insurgency.
