CGHS enhanced its Facilities for PIB Accredited Media Persons
The facilities provided to the PIB accredited journalists under CGHS was liberalized by the Government of India. More benefits are added to the scheme.
The Union Government of India in the first week of February liberalized the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facilities for media persons accredited Press Information Bureau (PIB). The facilities, which were available to the PIB accredited journalists, will now be provided to the eligible dependent family members too.
The procedure for making an easier access to the services by the media persons, was streamlined the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in empanelled Private and Government Hospitals.
• The accredited media persons can now get OPD consultation from any Government hospital and procure the medicines through the concerned CGHS Wellness Centers.
• On the basis of the CGHS card issued to the media persons, they can now avail the treatments at empanelled hospitals. They will just have to pay the CGHS charges to the hospitals.
• He can also go to any of the empanelled hospital at times of emergency
• The journalists will have to pay for the investigations at the CGHS rates and no reimbursement is permitted for it
The orders were initially issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 1 January 2013.
