Chennai Airport Ranked Much Lower than Targeted on ACI’s Airport Service Quality Rating
The findings of the ACI survey gave the Chennai Airport an Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rating of 3.21 out of five for the year 2012.
The findings of the Airports Council International (ACI) survey in the month of May 2013 gave the Chennai Airport an Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rating of 3.21 out of five for the year 2012. It is important to note that the target of rating of Chennai Airport was 4.1.
The reasons for much lower rating are crowded parking places, poor Internet connectivity as well as bad toilet facilities. Poor shopping facility was another reason for low rating. These are the parameters for the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rating. The Chennai Airport was rated on overall 33 parameters.
Airport Authority of India (AAI), in the meanwhile, explained that old terminals of the Chennai Airport had various issues and the services were poorly maintained. In case attention was not given on these, the Chennai Airport might also be removed completely from the ACI list of airports.
Airports Council International (ACI) is an international body comprising of 597 member airports as well as airport authorities which operate more than 1679 airports in a total of 177 countries.
