Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tested positive for COVID-19 on January 10, 2022. The Defence Minister himself tweeted during the day informing that he has tested positive for Corona with mild symptoms.

Netflix’s 'The Power of the Dog' won Best Film-Drama at the Golden Globe Awards 2022, while 20th Century Studios’ West Side Story won Best Film– Musical or Comedy.

HBO series Succession won Golden Globe award 2022 for best television series- drama and /HBO Max’s Hacks won Best Television series-musical or comedy. 

4. (b) December 26th 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the public on the auspicious occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti on January 9, 2022 declared that starting this year, 26th December shall be marked as ‘Veer Baal Diwas.' He tweeted saying that this would be a fitting tribute to the courage of the Sahibzades (sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji) and their quest for justice.

Scientists in Cyprus have detected a new strain of Covid-19 that combines both Delta and Omicron. The discovery has been named as 'Deltacron' as Omicron-like genetic signatures were identified within Delta Genomes.

This was announced by Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra while announcing the assembly election 2022 dates for five states- Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on January 8, 2022.
