In an important decision, the Union Home Minister has announced the creation of five new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The central government has decided to create five new districts in Ladakh namely Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang. At present there are only two districts in Ladakh - Leh and Kargil. Both districts have their own autonomous district councils which govern them. After the formation of new districts, Ladakh will have a total of seven districts.

Maharashtra has become the first state to offer Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) to its employees. The move by the Eknath Shinde-led government comes a day after the Centre announced UPS for employees who joined the service after January 1, 2004. Earlier, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this decision would benefit 23 lakh central government employees.

Tamil Nadu-based startup Space Zone India launched India's first reusable hybrid rocket, mission RHUMI-2024, on a mobile platform from the TTDC grounds at Thiruvidandhai, East Coast Road, Chennai. The rocket has been developed by Chennai-based startup Space Zone India in collaboration with Martin Group.
