To strengthen science and technology cooperation between India and Nepal, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 18, 2025, at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi.

Recently, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways inaugurated an inland waterway terminal (IWT) on the Brahmaputra River in Jogighopa, Assam. This terminal is expected to transform connectivity in the region and boost trilateral trade with Bhutan and Bangladesh. The foundation stone for this terminal was laid in February 2021, and it has been developed at a cost of ₹82 crore.
