Maharashtra CM Update: Devendra Fadnavis Confirmed as Next Chief Minister

Devendra Fadnavis has been unanimously chosen as the leader of the BJP's legislative party, paving the way for him to become the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The oath-taking ceremony is set for December 5, with several Union ministers and state Chief Ministers expected to attend.

The wait for Maharashtra’s CM name is over. Devendra Fadnavis has been unanimously voted as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party's parliamentary party, enabling him to take over as the next chief minister of Maharashtra.

The BJP's core committee meeting was attended by Devendra Fadnavis, former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, and Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The announcement was made by Vijay Rupani, BJP's central observer for Maharashtra, when no other candidates were put forth for the post.

Fadnavis Nominated as Leader Unopposed

Former BJP state chief Chandrakant Patil proposed the nomination, which was supported by Pankaja Munde during the legislative party meeting.

Rupani declared during the meeting that Fadnavis would be elected leader without opposition because there was no other proposal.

Oath Ceremony on Dec 5

With about 2,000 VVIPs and 40,000 fans, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, at the Azad Maidan in south Mumbai. Preparations are well on for this event.

It is anticipated that 19 chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from different states, along with a number of Union ministers, will attend the occasion. The celebration will be a "historic moment" for Maharashtra, according to BJP leader Prasad Lad.

The importance of the Maharashtra mandate was emphasized by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, especially in view of the recent Lok Sabha election outcomes. "It's a mandate towards Vikasit Bharat," she stated. "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double engine government will vigorously and powerfully propel Maharashtra to unprecedented levels of growth. The pledges stated in the manifesto will be carried out.

Fadnavis to Claim Government Formation

In order to assert their claim to form the government, Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar are expected to visit Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan at 3:30 p.m.
