General Motors announced on 15 November 2011 the appointment of Lowell Paddock as president and MD of India operations with effect from 1 January 2012. He will succeed outgoing president and MD Karl Slym. Slym who led the Indian operations of GM since 1 October 2007, will move to SAICGM-Wuling in China as executive V-P.
Lowell Paddock will oversee GM’s operations across India, including manufacturing facilities in Halol, Gujarat, and Talegaon, Maharashtra, as well as its joint venture with Chinese auto-maker SAIC.
Paddock has held several important posts in product planning and programme management in the US, Europe and Asia, since joining GM in 1992. His previous positions include director of portfolio planning at GM Europe, V-P (planning) at GM Asia Pacific, and executive director of planning and programme management at GM’s Shanghai joint venture in China.
