IBM on 26 March 2014 unveiled Social, Mobile, Cloud and Analytics (SMAC) solutions for telecom operators in India. SMAC solutions will enable telecom operators in India derive more value from enhanced customer engagement.
The solutions offer operational and business model transformation and promise a rich digital experience for consumers. Besides, it will also enable telco operators to draw on the consumers capabilities to capitalise on the emergence of an everyone-to-everyone economy.
SMAC solutions were unveiled by IBM keeping in mind that 58 per cent of telecom operators expect new technologies to reduce barriers to entry and 69 per cent expect more cross-industry competition. This was revealed by IBM’s Digital Reinvention Study.
In addition to SMAC solutions, IBM has also introduced
Vibes: It is an enterprise social software solution that will enable telcos narrow down target audiences from communities to individuals.
Async: It is a solution to help telcos gain operational excellence with an alternate content delivery paradigm for heavy content such as videos.
Contextual Content Communication (C3): It will help telcos enable contextual communication of content in diverse business scenarios for an enhanced and better targeted user experience.
Watson Engagement Advisor (WEA): It was introduced in 2012 to assist the firm’s customer service agents or sit directly in the hands of consumers through mobile devices, with cloud-delivered services and online chat sessions.
