Manisha Malhotra- First Indian to be AIBA Commission’s Chairperson

Manisha Malhotra became the first Indian to be a Chairperson of any of the AIBA Commission.

International Boxing Association (AIBA) announced the Chairpersons of eight commissions for the 2011-2014 quadrennial. For all but two of the commissions, the Chairmen remained the same. National boxing coach G S Sandhu was chosen as a member of the International Boxing Association's Coaches Commission and four other Indians found a place in various AIBA panels. Manisha Malhotra, CEO of the Mittal Champions Fund, a fund set up by Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal to support the country's athletes was been appointed to lead the Women's Commission. Manisha Malhotra  is the first Indian to be a Chairperson of any of the AIBA Commission. New EC member Mapu Jamias, a former boxer from American Samoa was appointed Chairman of the Athletes & Youth Commission. The other appointments are as follows:


• Coaches Commission- Adam Kusior, Poland
• Ethics Commission- François Carrard, Switzerland
• Medical Commission- Dr Charles Butler, USA
• Refereeing & Judging Commission- Terry Smith, Wales
• Technical & Rules Commission- Franco Falcinelli, Italy
• WSB Commission- Dr Humbert Furgoni, France
