The Meghalaya Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill 2013 was on 18 April 2013 passed in the state Assembly. The bill was passed by the state assembly in December 2012, but Governor Ranjeet Shekhar Mooshahary had sent it back without giving his assent and instead suggested some amendments.

The Lokayukta (also Lok Ayukta) is an anti-corruption ombudsman organization in the Indian states. Maharashtra was the first state to introduce the institution of Lokayukta through The Maharashtra Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayuktas Act in 1971.
