Mumbai's new underground metro line, known as the Aqua Line, will start its operations in the city very soon. This project marks an important development for the city's transit system. This new metro is expected to make getting around Mumbai easier, help with traffic, and improve commuting.
The first phase of the Mumbai Metro 3 line will soon begin, linking SEEPZ (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone) to BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex).
Mumbai Aqua Line: Metro Route
The Aqua Line will span 33.5 kilometers from Aarey Colony to Cuffe Parade, with 27 stations along the way. Of these, 26 will be underground, and one will be at ground level.

Mumbai Aqua Line: Cost of Project
The central government gave the green light for the Aqua Line metro in June 2013, with an initial budget of Rs 23,136 crore. The project is now nearly finished at 98%, with a new cost of Rs 37,276 crore. Funding comes from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will operate and maintain the Aqua Line for the next ten years. They will oversee daily operations, including managing the control centers, stations, trains, and overall infrastructure to ensure the safety of passengers.
Mumbai Aqua Line Timings
This line will be operational from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. There will be trains available for commuters to board every few minutes. Trains will be able to go at up to 90 km/h.
An estimated 35 km on the route will take 50 minutes to complete. In Mumbai, driving the same distance takes more than two hours on average.
