Myneni Hari Prasad Rao, Architect of Madras Atomic Power Station, died

Born on 21 July 1927 in Edlalanka village near Avanigadda, Rao had worked as the Executive Director of the Nuclear Power Board (now known as NPCIL) of DAE, Mumbai, for three years.

Myneni Hari Prasad Rao, considered the Father or Architect of the Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), died on 5 April 2016 in Chennai due to old age ailments. He was 88.

Born on 21 July 1927 in Edlalanka village near Avanigadda, Rao had worked as the Executive Director of the Nuclear Power Board (now known as NPCIL) of DAE, Mumbai, for three years. He had also served for many years as a member of Southern, Western and Northern Indian Regional electricity boards.

In 1984, Rao was honoured with the Padma Shri. He was also awarded with the Sanjay Gandhi for contribution in Science and Technology in 1983.
