Nishi Vasudeva on 4 July 2011 became the first woman in the history of state-owned oil company to join the board of directors. Vasudeva joined the board of Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL), a Navratna PSU, as Director (Marketing).
Vasudeva was selected for the board job at HPCL by government headhunter Public Enterprise Selection Board in December 2010. The Cabinet Committee on Appointments (ACC) gave its consent in July 2011.
An IIM-Kolkata passout, Vasudeva served as Executive Director (Marketing-Coordination) in HPCL prior to being appointed director. She had begun her career in oil industry with Engineers India Ltd. She has a wide experience spanning over 34 years in various streams like marketing, corporate, strategy and planning and information system.
The post of Director (Marketing) in HPCL fell vacant following the appointment of incumbent Subir Roychowdhry as the Chairman and Managing Director of the company.
