Serbia’s Novak Djokovic defeated World No. 1 Rafael Nadal 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) to win the ATP Miami Masters crown on 3 April 2011 and thus remain unbeaten in 2011. Djokovic won all 24 matches he played in 2011.
The Serbian who is currently World No 2 captured four titles, including the Australian Open, Dubai, elite Masters titles at Indian Wells and Miami. He had won his first Miami title in 2007. Novak Djokovic joined Roger Federer, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras as the only players to win the Australian Open, Indian Wells and Miami in the same year.
Nadal finished runner-up in Miami for the third time after falling in the final in 2005 and 2008.
Third seeded Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes of India claimed the doubles title at the Sony Ericsson Open/ATP Miami Masters on 2 April 2011. They defeated No. 2 seeds Belarusian-Canadian duo Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor 6-7(5), 6-2, 10-5. The win moved the Indians ahead of World No. 1 Bob and Mike Bryan for first place in the 2011 ATP Doubles Team Rankings as well as in the battle to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
