The Indian government conferred the Padma Awards on 25 January 2011.

The Indian government conferred the Padma Awards on 25 January 2011 on the eve of India's 62nd Republic Day. However no one was named as the winner of the Bharat Ratna Award. Padma Awards are divided in three categories namely- Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.  The awards are given in varied disciplines/ fields of activities like art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.

In 2010 the Government had announced 130 awards, including 13 in the category of foreigners, NRIs and PIOs. The list had included 6 Padma Vibhushan, 43 Padma Bhushan and 81 Padma Shri. No one was however chosen for the Bharat Ratna award in 2010.
