The Election Commission of India (ECI) on 16 May 2014 announced the results of the 2014 assembly elections of Arunachal Pradesh. By winning 42 seats in a house of 60, Indian National Congress (INC) led by the incumbent Chief Minister Nabam Tuki emerged as the largest party. 
Bharatiya Janata Party with 11 seats stood at the second position.

About Arunachal Pradesh, the largest state of the North Eastern region of India (area wise)
Arunachal Pradesh became a full-fledged State with effect from 20 February 1987. It was created as a state on the demand of people of the state. The total membership of the Legislative Assembly of the state was raised to 60 during the general election in 1990, when the first legislative assembly of the state was constituted. 
Background of how Arunachal Pradesh became a state
North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) on the day of India’s independence 15 August 1947 became an integral part of the Union of India. Earlier, it was administered by the Ministry of External Affairs with the Governor of Assam, who was acting as agent of President of India. At that time, the administrative head was the advisor to the governor.

It became a Union Territory in 1972 and acquired its name as Arunachal Pradesh by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It acquired a legislature in 1975 and finally on 20 February 1987 it gained Statehood as the 25th State of the Union of India. It became a state, when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India.
