Prime Minister Modi's important "Swachh Bharat Mission," which aims for a cleaner India, is about to complete its 10 years of service. The 10th anniversary will be celebrated on October 2nd, and many government agencies are getting ready for the event.

A vast number of institutions, primarily Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs), would adopt approximately five lakh extremely dirty locations nationwide, dubbed Cleanliness Target Units (CTU), and transform them into public facilities.

Swachhata Bharat Mission 2024: Theme

The Union Urban Affairs Ministry released a statement saying, "The project being undertaken under the Swachcha Bharat Mission (SBM) includes mega cleanliness drives at various sites like tourist locations, public buildings, commercial areas, community toilets, public toilets, water bodies, zoos, and sanctuaries."

The Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) was launched on October 2, 2014. This year's campaign will focus on the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata Sanskaar Swachhata,’ which means ‘Clean Habits, Clean Culture.’

5 Lakh Dirty Spots to Get Cleaned

A significant rise in the number of Cleanliness Task Units (CTUs) designated for cleaning and transformation has been reported by senior officials in the Urban Affairs Ministry, the nodal body for mission implementation. The initial goal was two lakh, but as of right moment, approximately five lakh locations have been identified so far.

PSU’s Participating in Cleanliness Drive

In order to push PSUs—such as DMRC, NRCTC, RailTel, RITES, IRCTC, and the Airports Authority of India—to adopt Cleanliness Target Units as a means of addressing difficult and neglected areas and improving them, Union Urban Affairs Minister M.L. Khattar called a high-level meeting with senior officials from nearly 45 PSUs. Senior authorities and nodal offices from Central Ministries also attended the meeting.

The public sector units can provide essential support through a variety of efforts, such as plantation drives and the provision of labor and machinery, by adopting the CTUs. They can make a substantial contribution to the cleanliness and beautifying activities by actively taking part in Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs, which are safety camps for cleaning personnel, and by installing waste-to-art projects at transformed locations.
