The twelve day-long NCC Thal Sainik Camp concluded successfully on 7 October 2013. The closing ceremony of the NCC Thal Sainik Camp was held at the Garrison Parade Ground in Delhi Cantt. The closing ceremony was addressed by Lt Gen Gyan Bhushan, GOC-in-C, South Western Command.
1360 Cadets, both boys and girls drawn from 17 NCC Directorates covering all the States and Union Territories of the country participated in the camp. The Cadets during the camp competed in a number of activities, like shooting, Obstacle Crossing Training, Map reading and other Institutional Training Competitions spread over twelve days.
Aim of the Thal Sainik Camp
The primary aim of the Thal Sainik Camp is to give an exposure to salient aspects of Army Wing Training and generate healthy competitive spirit by conducting competitions contributing towards Inter-Directorate Republic Day Banner in addition to fostering a sense of discipline, leadership and National Integration amongst participating cadets.
At the closing ceremony, trophies were awarded to the winners for various competitions. It is important to note that NCC is the largest uniformed youth organisation which is involved in grooming the youth of the country into motivated citizens and leaders.
