The Union government of India on 6 January 2012 sanctioned seven more tourism projects worth 36.22 crore rupees to Jammu and Kashmir for up gradation of tourist infrastructure in the state. These projects were sanctioned for upgrading tourist infrastructure at potential spots like Jammu, Akhnoor, Reasi Sonamarg, Srinagar, Leh and Zanskar.
The Indian government released the first installment of 8.04 crore rupees for taking up these projects.
