Single-use plastic items will be banned in India from October 2, 2019, onwards to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. These single-use plastic items are bottles, plastic bags, straws, spoons, and cups. The move will help the Union Government in eliminating the use of single-use plastic completely by 2022
