Serum Institute of India to produce 100 million more COVID-19 vaccines for India

Serum Institute of India (SII) will be producing 100 million more COVID-19 vaccines for India and other low- and middle-income countries. These vaccines will be provided in the year 2021 jointly by Serum Institute of India, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and GAVI Vaccine Alliance. India will receive a total of 200 million vaccine doses in 2021.

Senior IAS PD Vaghela appointed as Chairman of TRAI

The Cabinet's Appointment Committee has appointed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer PD Vaghela as the Chairman of TRAI - Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Vaghela succeeds RS Sharma, who served the post for five years. He will take charge with effect from October 1, 2020 for three years tenure or until he attains age of 65.

Ministry of Home Affairs approves 3 more NIA branches at Chennai, Ranchi & Imphal

The Home Affairs Ministry (MHA) has approved to set up 3 additional branches of National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Chennai, Ranchi and Imphal. The move is expected to ensure quick response to any emergency situation arising in these three states. It will also strengthen NIA’s capability to interrogate terrorism-related cases and other matters related to National Security.

China’s Yunnan province reports confirmed case of Bubonic plague

The Yunnan province of China has a confirmed case of Bubonic plague in a 3-year-old child, as per the local Center for Disease Control and Prevention. No other new case has been reported yet of the deadly plague. The residents of the province has been asked to report immediately if they had any contact with dead rats.

PM Narendra Modi has launched 6 mega projects in Uttarakhand on September 29, 2020 under the Namami Gange Mission. They projects were launched virtually through video conferencing.
