China’s Tiangong-1 space station re-entered the earth’s atmosphere and burnt over the middle of South Pacific on March 2, 2018.

Former American diplomat Rosemary DiCarlo was on March 29, 2018 appointed as the Head of UN Political Affairs, one of the most high-profile positions of the United Nations (UN). With this appointment, DiCarlo became the first woman to head this position. DiCarlo will succeed Jeffrey Feltman.

In order to combat the rising levels of air pollution, the Delhi-NCR region on April 1, 2018 began supplying ultra-clean Bharat Stage VI grade fuel, both petrol and diesel. With this, Delhi became the first city in the country to switch from BS-IV grade fuels to BS-VI. BS-VI fuel is equivalent to fuel meeting Euro-VI emission norms.

The World Autism Awareness Day was observed across the world on April 2, 2018 with an aim to encourage the Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about autism throughout the world.

China has increased tariffs by up to 25 percent on 128 US products, ranging from frozen pork and wine to certain fruits and nuts in response to US duties on imports of Aluminium and Steel. The tariffs affecting some 3 billion US Dollars worth of imports has been reportedly to put into effect to safeguard China's interests and balance the losses caused by new US tariffs.

Scientists at the civil engineering department of IIT-Kharagpur have developed an award-winning bio-toilet that recycles waste water for its reuse and generates electricity.The project has received honours from Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 'Swachh Bharat Award' event for its one-of-its-kind technology.

The Haryana government has decided to double the monthly allowance for chowkidars (watchmen), from Rs 3,500 to Rs 7,000. The decision came into effect on April 1, 2018. From now onwards, the chowkidars would get uniform allowance of Rs 2,500 instead of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 instead of Rs 750 earlier for stick, battery, whistle and umbrella. They would also be provided with bicycles within three months.

Qutub Minar on April 2, 2018 was lit up completely with blue lights on World Autism Awareness Day, as a part of the international '#LightItUpBlue' campaign to increase sensitisation and acceptance of autism in the society. The event, for the second time, included Qutub Minar among several buildings and monuments across the world that were lit up blue showing support to the autism community.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) and University of Delhi feature among the world's top 200 universities, according to a joint study by ASSOCHAM and Yes Institute. The study revealed that while only two Indian educational institutions featured in the top 200, 49 American institutions featured in the list followed by 30 from the United Kingdom.
12. (d) Mahendra Singh Dhoni
On April 2, 2018, exactly seven years after helping India clinch its second World Cup, ending the 28-year wait, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award by President Ram Nath Kovind. Dhoni was dressed in an army uniform courtesy the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel that was conferred to him by the Indian Territorial Army on November 1, 2011, months after India lifted its second World Cup under his leadership.
