1. (b) Kerala


The state government of Kerala has issued guidelines to be followed to confirm brain death cases. The guidelines were drawn on the basis of a directive of the Kerala High Court to put an end to the concerns and doubts of the public related to the procedures of organ donations of deceased and transplantation.

2. (d) Goa

The state government of Goa has decided to launch its own app-based taxi service to some key tourist destinations with a hope to solve the state’s problematic tourist taxi issue that has been plaguing its tourism sector for years.

3. (a) Maharashtra


The Maharashtra state government is going to start free chemotherapy units for cancer patients in selected district hospitals. The move aims to ease the travelling and lodging problems of cancer patients who come to Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel for their treatment.

India’s ace shooter Jitu Rai won gold in the men's 10m air pistol event after shooting 235.1 points in the final on April 9 at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. This is Rai’s first Commonwealth gold in the 10m air pistol event and second overall.

5. (b) Manu Bhaker

India’s teen shooter Manu Bhaker grabbed the gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol gold medal by shattering the games record at the 21st Commonwealth Games on April 8, 2018. This was Bhaker’s maiden Commonwealth Games outing.

Punam Yadav on April 8, 2018 won India's fifth gold medal in the women's 69kg weightlifting event. Punam lifted a total of 222kg to beat England's Sarah Davies, her closest competitor, to take her second medal at the Commonwealth Games. She had won bronze at the 2014 Glasgow Games.

The Indian women's table tennis team created history on April 8, 2018 by clinching their first-ever gold medal at the Commonwealth Games with a 3-1 victory over Singapore in the final. This was the second time the women's team reached the Commonwealth final, having made its maiden appearance in the 2010 edition in Delhi.

China has banned the export to North Korea of some items with potential dual-use in weapons of mass destruction. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce gave details of 32 materials, technologies and forms of equipment with potential use related to weapons of mass destruction, including particle accelerators and centrifuges.

Iran has resumed gas swap with Turkmenistan since March 28 following negotiations held between the Presidents of the two nations. Iran had stopped gas swap with Turkmenistan last January because of its low quality.

Hungary's right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orban on April 8, 2018 claimed a landslide victory in the nation’s general election. Orban will serve a third consecutive term in office, with his party Fidesz projected to keep its key two-thirds majority in parliament.

India swept the table tennis team events of the Commonwealth Games as the men matched the women to claim a memorable gold with an emphatic 3-0 win over Nigeria in the final on April, 9, 2018. It is the first time since the sport’s induction into the Commonwealth Games’ program that India has topped both categories.

12. (a) Venkat Rahul Ragala

Venkat Rahul Ragala claimed the gold medal in the Men's 85kg weightlifting event on April 7, 2018. The 21-year-old Rahul, lifted a total of 338kg (151kg+187kg) to finish on top. The Indian was locked in a close battle with Samoa’s Don Opeloge, who ended with a total of 331kg (151kg+180kg).
