Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister presented tax free budget for fiscal 2014-15

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh presented a tax free budget of 274705 crore rupees for fiscal year 2014-15 with a proposed deficit of 4132 crore rupees.

Uttar Pradesh Budget 2014-15: 274705 crore rupees budget planned
Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, on 20 June 2014 presented a tax free budget of 274705 crore rupees for the fiscal year 2014-15 with a proposed deficit of 4132 crore rupees.

The proposed budgetary provisions are 24 percent higher compared to 2013-14 financial year, which was of 223201.19 crore rupees.


Highlights of the Budget 2014-15
• No new taxes proposed
• No allocation for the ambitious free laptop scheme, Kanya Vidyadhan and unemployment allowance that was proposed by the ruling Samajwadi party in their election manifesto during assembly election of 2012
• Thrust on the infrastructural facilities like power, irrigation, roads and bridges (49108 crore rupees provision), which is 82 percent more than the budget for fiscal 2013-14
• To promote investment and increase employment opportunities allocations have been made
• For adoption of National Food Security mission scheme, the government allocated 178 crore rupees
• 2424 crore rupees allocated for government’s Samajwadi Pension scheme that targets 40 lakh families
• 7625 crore rupees allocated for agriculture and associated services, which is 15 percent more than the budget of fiscal 2013-14
• 41538 crore rupees allocated for the Education sector in which the government has raised allocation for the medical health and family welfare by 34 percent to 14377 crore rupees
• 25522 crore rupees allocated to SC/ST, backward, handicapped and minorities welfare
• 50 crore rupees allocated for a scheme of rural road scheme named after party’s leader late Ram Saran Das
• 95 crore rupees allocated for the Lucknow metro budget project
• 3280 crore rupees allocated for Lucknow-Agra six-lane expressway project of 300 kilometer
• 291 crore and 758 crore rupees allocated for special schemes in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand respectively
• 1613 crore rupees allocated for Kisan and old age pension schemes
• Target for creation of 2018 man days for 41 lakh families under the MGNREGA Scheme
• For modernization of police force 12400 crore rupees allocated
• For improving power scenario 23928 crore rupees allocated
• The government allocated 919 crore rupees for scholarships to students belonging to minorities
• For modernization of arbi-farsi madrasas 240 crore rupees allocated
• For construction of boundaries of burial grounds 200 crore rupees allocated
